should I get a portable GPS unit or choose the factory installed option for my new car? the top of the line portable one I'm looking at is a mere 600 bucks and it offers a ton more features and better looking maps than the factory option, making me think the auto maker should stick to making cars and not GPS units. still, I like how its cleanly integrated into the car, the portable mounts on the windshield and looks a bit tacky. the factory also costs 2,000 dollars. which one is worth it?

Portable GPS system Turn on and Turn off Automatically? There are various brand of portable GPS system on the market ie. Garmin, TomTom, Magellen, Navigon etc. Does anyone know what GPS system besides Garmin will automatically turn on the unit by the time you start your engine and also automatically turn of when you shut down the car engine.
